“The Parallel Worlds” of Avet Terteryan (Excerpts from the text)

… Avet Terteryan’s creative heritage has become the turning point in the musical civilization of Armenia. He has broken out the cage of selfexhausted composition traditions, mainly borrowed from the European classicism, and entered the new mysterious “parallel world”…

… The composer uses a special hierarchic system of proportional correlation of diverse-dimensional composition components, in order to reach the space infinity effect. It envisions a huge distance between the uncomplicated Particular and the manifold Whole.

The common methodologies of musical analysis are not proper for the revelation of the compliance of balance of this proportional system, arranged in its turn in a specific logical chain of cause and effect. The study of this phenomenon demands for the attraction of a number of conceptions applicable in exact sciences…

… It is a reconstruction, or, to be more precise, a creation of a new mysterious musical “parallel” world, conceived by the author, where all the usual concepts are comprehended anew and positioned in an absolutely different system of musical coordinates…

… The paradoxical, extremely unusual and multi-vector musical Time is another phenomenon of Terteryan’s technique. Besides the straight main processes, the paradox of Time loops is tangible in the structure of the composer’s works. The micro-repetitive pulsations impart a quality of specific multi-linear discretion…

… The time and energetic characteristics of the lines have the features of hypertrophy in Terteryan’s scores. That is why the ear-comprehended spatiality has indeed astronomical scopes…

… The composer creates musical “star” and “galaxy” systems, locating them into the space of an extremely rarefied proto-substance. In the same time, these systems have been formed from the latter…

… The probabilistic processes flowing in Terteryan’s works aren’t spontaneous; they can be defined as a foreseen probability. To be more precise, it is a distinctly assumed averaged probabilistic result of casual sound coincidences and their overtone raisings within the frames of a certain timbre-acoustic field…

… This extremely complicated system of calculation of multi-discrete lines, perceived by the audience as a flow of flickering sounds stands for an acoustic analogue of space infinity, where Terteryan’s “planet” and “star” Worlds are located…

..Anyway, even the deepest technological analysis will barely reveal all the artistic secrets of Terteryan’s musical collisions, particularly the ones standing in a purely spiritual sphere that cannot be interpreted within the tangible notions…

… The permanent spontaneous-probabilistic sound self-arrangement processes of the highest astrophysical order flow in the infinity of Terteryan’s musical space. The creator’s powerful gesture, managing the flows of the sound proto-substance, creates a harmonious and stable “planetary”, “star”, “galactic” systems modeling Lewis Carroll’s through – the – looking – glass Universe, where the whole hierarchy of the universal order is stationed both on micro- and macrocosmic level…

… Avet Terteryan’s music is a new mysterious musical Universe with totally different set of constants and unprecedented musical-spatial geometry, having much more dimensions that the real life has.
