The Influence of Music on Different Stages of a Child’s Development

Avet Terteryan’s musical heritage highly influenced the musical culture of the 20th-21st centuries. It still has a deep impact on the destiny of new
generation of its admirers. The circle of audience accepting and deeply feeling the vibrations that the mankind got through Terteryan, grows day
by day. This is exactly what the great thinker and musician tended to.
…The methods used in the Junior Studio of Harmonic Development „Tsil Busats“ have been worked out mainly during the last decade, as a result of long conversations with the composer, concerning his opinion on the perspectives of the culture, on the contemporary music, ability to listen to it and its emotional perception.

Terteryan considered that the initiation into the music and, generally, the creative world is an important step of education. It should serve for the salvation of the mankind. The individual inspiration, true education, reappraisal of vales and new childhood psychology must be its bases.
Such reasoning and the premonition of binding reforms in the education sphere have resulted in actual steps. An experimental group of children from 7 to 14 years old was gathered in  994. The methods of Studio are based on the revelation of children’s and teenagers‘ boundless abilities, creative imagination and skills through the art – drawing, sculpture, music, dance, smoothly switching from one state into another. According to psychologists, the self-removal and self-transcendent skills are inherent to every individual. These two main forces, according to Frankle, give the opportunity to enter the kingdom of spiritual freedom and inner wealth, and help to survive.

Terteryan’s music resonates in teenager’s soul, releases it from restraints, inspires, makes him decisive and bold, refines and elevates him. The ability to feel eurhythmics, color, to plunge into sound favors the powerful spirit of his music and gives the teenager the sense of victory over the „vale“ inducements, as well as becomes a solid basis for further intellectual development. It is appropriate to mention Terteryan’s following remark: We have forgotten that the music is, where it begins from; we still think that the sound is a small part of music, we have been taught like this.
