In the context of the International Music-Festival in honor of the 75th Birthday of Avet Terteryan, the “Union of Armenian Composers” organises a conference with the subject:
TRADITIONS AND RENEWAL
75 YEARS Avet TERTERYAN
The conference will take part from October 25 to October 30, 2004
Avet Terteryan’s music opened a new chapter of contemporary symphonic music, and his compositions earned a strong acceptance of the audience worldwide and aroused a permanent interest by conductors, composers,
musicians and musicologists.
Terterian found to his own musical language in his symphonies, which seems to unite all the convulsions of the world and humanity in one sound.
His music hereby gets to the bottom of the strong sediments of national traditions, of the musical production of ancient peoples. Avet Terteryan revived these traditions by the means of contemporary music and this especially in the field of symphonic music.
For Avet Terteryan, tradition and renewal are unseparable:
“Everything, which is truly new, becomes tradition.”
This principle of Terteryan will be the main topic of the conference in the context of the International Music-Festival in Honor of the 75th Birthday of Avet Terteryan:
Traditions and Renewal.
Terteryan’s Work is not an island, it is a part of the musical continent of the 20th and the 21st century.
We want to invite musicologists, composers, conductors and philosophers to participate at this conference.
At this conference, we plan to discuss ideas and informations on the work and the influence of Avet Terteryan to contemporary music.
The conference will take place in Erivan, end of october 2004.
Please confirm your participation until September 10 and please tell us the subjects of your contributions until September 30, 2004.
